Beginner surf student popping up and riding their first whitewater wave

Thinking about booking a surf lesson but not sure if you're “fit enough”? Here's the good news: if you're in reasonably decent shape, you're going to stand up and ride a wave. We're so confident about it, we guarantee it.

What the Guarantee Actually Means

Book our two-hour surf lesson and we guarantee you'll stand up and ride a wave. The physical bar to qualify is low — if you can knock out a single push-up, you're in. So if you're someone who's active, walks regularly, hits the gym now and then, or just generally takes care of yourself, you have everything you need. Paddling and popping up on a longboard isn't about brute strength — it's about balance, timing, and a little bit of coaching, and anyone in decent shape picks that up fast.

Why the Two-Hour Lesson?

Standing up and riding your first wave takes a little more in-water time than a quick intro session allows — time to get a feel for your board, dial in your pop-up, and get a handful of real attempts with your instructor guiding you into each wave. The full two-hour lesson gives you enough waves and enough coaching to make that first ride happen, which is exactly why the guarantee applies to it. We'd rather back a lesson long enough to deliver than make a promise we can't keep.

A Beginner-Friendly Surf Experience

Warm water and gentle, forgiving breaks make our home spot one of the best places on earth to learn to surf, and our instructors know exactly which breaks to use depending on the day's swell and your experience level. Pair that with small class sizes and hands-on coaching, and if you're already reasonably active, you're about as close to a sure thing as surfing gets.

Ready to Catch Your First Wave?

If you keep yourself in decent shape, there's no reason to hesitate — book the two-hour lesson, and our Stand-Up-and-Ride Guarantee means you're paddling home a surfer. Book your lesson today and see for yourself.
